Building Your Birthing Nest

Updated: Jan 13, 2023

I received a beautiful, unexpected gift the other night, from one of our dinner guests......

It was a big bag from Sabon.

I absolutely love Sabon products.

So you can imagine, I was very excited.

Their wrapping is always so special.

This was a Big box , which made it that much more exciting.

When I opened it the first thing I noticed was a big bottle of Aroma "White Tea."

I remember it because it filled the hospital delivery room with such a fine fresh smell.

I thought, this couple is so smart, using this type of diffuser, because no plug is needed.

Which brings me to the topic of:

Building Your Birthing NEST

Our senses are heightened during pregnancy, labor, and birth https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2000/05/morning-sickness-protects-mothers-and-their-unborn:

Blame it on those crazy pregnancy hormones, estrogen and hCG.

I remember riding the bus during my 1st pregnancy and feeling so sick from

The odors on the bus, that I demanded the bus come to a halt ,so I could get off and get some

Fresh air.

* Smells that we used to like become awful.

* Familiar tastes become distasteful, or cravings overwhelm us with desire.

* Sights that never bothered us before (colors may change our moods, space, shapes) become unpleasant.

* Touch, we become very sensitive to, (cold or heat) or we need lots of cozy hugs

And lots of LOVE ❤️.

So how can we create our

BIRTH NEST in the Delivery Room.???

Let's picture what a typical hospital looks like...

It's sterile and smells of Lysol.

It's usually not the most comfortable place.

Supplies are many times sparce, like; towels, extra pillows and blankets.

Lights are bright and can be blinding.

Syringes and medical supplies may create stress.

Noises ,like hearing your baby's heartbeat from the monitor ,interrupted rest, during doctors rounds , or loud noises from the Mama next door birthing her baby ......might be

Pleasant or unpleasant .

Here's a list of Supplies to Create ..

YOUR BIRTHING NEST in the DELIVERY ROOM

Change your delivery room into your own personal Spa

1.) An electric diffuser (Laline sells them.)

You can add your own organic aromas like:

Jasmine, lavender, Clary Sage or Vanilla, Orange or Lemon

2.) A bottle of liquid room air freshener like from

Sabon, White Tea ...the Best!!!

3.) A Blindfold (like the airlines give out) , or

An herbal blindfold, filled with lavender (very soothing) can be heated in any microwave.

These are great for blocking out bright lights , and adding a nice aroma .

4.) Music - made with Spotify, gives you a huge selection and an instant list.

5.) JBL speaker , any Bluetooth speaker or earplugs -

For the disturbing noises in the hallway and put you in a dreamy mood

6.) Your own big yummy BEACH TOWEL from home to wrap yourself up in after …a shower

7.) Flip Flops during your shower ,and soft furry warm slippers

for when you get out of the shower.

8.) Massage oils , I love Weleda arnica oil or lavender oil for a real relaxing spa effect.

Coconut oil and almond oil are great too.

In short , you want to feel like you're

as comfortable as you are in your own bedroom. Make it pretty, soft, gentle, even romantic,

With your favorite music, smells, things from home.

Let's make your delivery room your

BIRTHING NEST
